How to change the processor on your laptop

Before deciding to replace the processor in your laptop, you need to weigh the + and – of such a solution. If you are not very good at computers, then you can replace the processor incorrectly and in this case it is better to immediately contact a specialist.

There are two basic reasons for replacing the processor in the laptop:

  • desire to increase the performance of a personal computer, completing it with a more powerful processor;
  • malfunction or breakdown of the processor.

Choosing a worthy replacement for the old processor, you need to consider its compatibility with other components of the laptop. Before you begin the self-replacement process, update the BIOS to the latest version.

Remember, the replacement of the processor requires special knowledge and experience. If there is neither one nor the other, it is better not to take on this responsibility, but to trust the real professionals of the service center. Otherwise, an unsuccessful outcome can lead not only to the need to repair the laptop, but also to remove it from the warranty.

Tools necessary for self-replacement of the processor:

  • tube of heat-conducting paste;
  • screwdriver Set;
  • paper towel, napkins or a piece of dry cloth.

At the time of starting work the laptop should be disconnected from the mains and the battery removed. After that, unscrew the screws and get to the cooling system of the processor, which will have to be slowly dismantled:

  • First the screw in the battery compartment is unscrewed;
  • Removes the video card, fastened by means of bolts, which must be unscrewed very carefully;
  • The cooling system, which is mounted on the casing thanks to the cogs, is dismantled. After unscrewing them, the system should be slightly raised, lowered, raised and pulled again;
  • The processor heatsink is removed;
  • The fan is disconnected from the motherboard;
  • From the heat exchanger of the processor, the remnants of the heat-conducting paste are eliminated;
  • The processor is dismantled using a screwdriver turning the screw on its connector counterclockwise;
  • Removable thermal residues on the processor are removed;
  • A new layer of thermal paste is applied;
  • The processor is neatly inserted into the connector without the use of force and excessive pressure. If you correctly position it, then it is fairly easy to enter;
  • The screw, previously unscrewed at the processor socket, is returned to the previous position with a screwdriver;
  • All previously removed elements are mounted in their places (cooling system, video card, cover and battery).

This process of replacement can be considered complete. Run the laptop and test it. If the equipment does not turn on, there is no failure or its expected performance, you should immediately contact the professionals. And that the replacement or repair of the processor were made qualitatively, quickly and with a guarantee, it is better to immediately entrust this matter to specialists.
